What you need to know
Your health
No one who is experiencing any COVID-19 related symptoms or have been advised to self isolate should attend a courthouse even if they are necessary to a proceeding.
Instead, immediately contact the appropriate court office to inform the Court that you have been advised not to attend and follow any directions.
Only required court participants and media will be permitted entry to any courthouse.

Physical Distancing
- Physical distancing requirements must be respected by all participants while in the courtrooms and the courthouses.
- To adhere to public health guidelines, each courtroom has a maximum number of people that may be in the courtroom at any given time. The maximum number of people may not be exceeded at any point during the proceeding. Priority will be given to parties and their counsel.
- Signage and markings will be in place to direct participants where to sit and which paths to follow.
Quarantine Requirements
- Counsel, parties and witnesses will need to respect the provincial rules regarding travel from outside New Brunswick and quarantine requirements. Anyone participating in a proceeding that has come from outside of the Atlantic Bubble will be asked to provide the date of their arrival in the Province as well as the date they completed their 14 days of mandatory isolation.
Information related to specific court locations
Fredericton
- All Court of Queen’s Bench matters have been moved to the Fredericton Convention Centre
- Provincial Court and Court of Appeal matters continue at the Fredericton Justice building.
Woodstock
- The Court of Queen’s Bench in the judicial district of Woodstock has temporarily moved all its matters to the Woodstock Baptist Church.
- To adhere to physical distancing measures, on plea day (Tuesday) overflow for Provincial Court matters has been moved across the street to the Woodstock Baptist Church, 694 Main Street.
Burton
- As of June 1, 2020, all matters currently scheduled in Burton will be heard in the Fredericton Justice Building.
